Mario Nell and Winand Grundling present an afternoon of French organ music of the 19th and 20th centuries, performed on the magnificent Marcussen Organ in the Endler Hall. This concert forms part of the Endler Concert Series, and will take place on Sunday 3 November at 4:30pm.

On the programme are French solo works for organ, including the evocative Suite Gothique by Boëllman and a selection Guilmant’s charming settings of Christmas carols. Great bravura pieces such as Bonnet’s Concert Variations and Duruflé’s Suite will also be heard – works which explore and unleash the full range of power of the Marcussen Organ. As an exciting closer, Langlais’ Double Fantasy for two organists is sure to make good use of the performers’ 4 expert hands and 4 dexterous feet.

Acknowledged as one of South Africa’s leading musicians and teachers, Mario Nell currently holds the position of Chair of the Music Department of the Stellenbosch University. His performing career has taken him all over Europe as well as Hong Kong and South Korea. Like Nell, Winand Grundling is also an illustrious alumnus of the Department. He has an already remarkable performing career, and is the recipient of countless accolades for his performances in Competitions and Arts Festivals throughout South Africa.

Tickets for R140 (regular) and R100 (students and pensioners) are available now through Computicket and at the door. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
