The Stellenbosch University Chamber Choir (SUCC), conducted by Martin Berger, will share the stage with the Cologne Cathedral Girls’ Choir to present a programme of diverse choral music from the rich choral traditions of South Africa and Germany.

SUCC was established in 2014 as an integral part of the Stellenbosch University Music Department. Besides annual performances at Woordfees and the Endler Concert Series, SUCC has been invited to attend festivals in Hong Kong (2017), Hungary (2018) and Germany (2018). The members are music students and experienced choral singers who strive to be locally relevant and internationally respected.

Regarded as one of the most outstanding musical institutions of Germany’s cathedrals, the Cologne Cathedral Girls’ Choir, conducted by Oliver Sperling, visits South Africa for the first time since its inception in 1989. Their South African tour culminates with a performance in the Endler Hall.

The innovative programme selected for this concert encompasses new South African choral compositions, African traditional songs and works from the international choral repertoire.

The performance takes place in the Endler Hall at 8pm on Friday 23 August.

Tickets for R140 (regular) and R100 (students and pensioners) are available now through Computicket and at the door. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
