The Endler Concert Series presents the Libertas Choir, conducted by Johan de Villiers, at 4:30pm on Sunday 4 November in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.

They present an eclectic programme consisting of much loved acappella choral works from the classical repertoire, including compositions by Whitacre, Jenkins and Ešenvalds, as well as several newly-commissioned arrangements of popular songs made famous by artists like Billy Joel, John Farnham, Miriam Makeba, Laurika Rauch and Jannie du Toit. Also on the programme are their own authentic performances of indigenous music with a strong African flavour, accompanied by the Ramon Alexander Trio.

The audience can look forward to hearing Gabriella’s Sång from the Swedish movie As it is in Heaven, and Melissa van der Spuy’s Glory medley made up from elements of Vivaldi’s Gloria, John Legend’s Glory from the movie Selma, with rap sections adapted to our context, and the rousing Glory Hallelujah from William Steffe’s famous Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Tickets for R140 (regular) and R100 (students and pensioners) are available now through Computicket and at the door. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
