Be part of a live CD recording when the Amici String Quartet and guitarist Morgan Szymanski play music from Mexico.

Szymanski, recognized internationally as one of the finest classical guitarists of his generation, was born in Mexico City in 1979. He started playing the guitar at the age of six and studies at the National Music School (Mexico), the Edinburgh Music School and the Royal College of Music in London.

The musicians have performed together in 2015, first at the Harare International Festival of the Arts and at that year’s Endler Concert Series.

Some of the composers whose works are included in the programme include Manuel de Falla, Astor Piazzolla, Luigi Boccherini and Carlos Gardel.

Peter Martens, cellist of the Amici String Quartet, describes Szymanski as a “captivating performer”. The other members of the Quartet are Suzanne Martens (violin 1), David Bester (violin 2) and Karin Gaertner (viola).

‘The Amici String Quartet and Morgan Szymanski’ will perform at the kykNET Fismer on 6 March at 14:00. The length is 60 minutes and tickets cost R110 in advance or R130 at the door.
