Andrey Baranov on violin with his sister Maria Baranova on piano appear in concert as part of the Endler Concert Series on Friday 24 March at 20h00 in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.

Andrey Baranov is winner of the Queen Elizabeth Violin Competition 2012. He is also a winner of Benjamin Britten and Henri Marteau International Violin Competitions, and a prizewinner of more than twenty other international competitions. Since making his major debut in 2005 at St. Petersburg Philharmonie hall, Andrey has performed on renowned stages throughout the world. He has already appeared with leading international orchestras and has performed alongside artists such as Martha Argerich, Julian Rachlin, Boris Andrianov, Pierre Amoyal, Eliso Virsaladze and Liana Isakadze.

After garnering first prize in the All Russian Mazur Competition for ensembles, Maria Baranova began her performing career concertizing in Russia, Germany, England, France, Monaco and Switzerland. She was recognized as a member of a “Best Duet” (Academy of Lausanne, Switzerland), “Best Accompanist” (Baltic Stars International Competition, St. Petersburg), and as a laureate in the Maria Yudina International Music Competition (St. Petersburg). In 2010 Maria became a prizewinner in the International Duo Competition with her brother Andrey Baranov.

For this concert the Baranov’s perform Tartini’s Devil’s Trill Sonata, Paganini’s Campanella, Ravel’s Tzigane, as well as works by Ysaye, Tchaikovsky and Chausson.
