The annual Band Extravaganza will take place on Saturday 12 April at 16:00 in the Endler Hall. The SU Symphonic Wind Band will share the stage with several school bands. Participating bands from the southern suburbs are the South African College High School Concert Band and the Wynberg Boys’ and Girls’ High School Concert Band conducted by Levi Alexander and Peter Catzavelos, respectively.
Joining them from the Northern Suburbs are the DF Malan High School Band, conducted by Faan Malan, Bellville High School Symphonic Wind Band under the baton of Riaan van Wyk and Durbanville High School Wind Band conducted by Suretha Theron, and from Paarl, the Concert Band of Paarl Boys High School, Suonare, under the baton of Reghardt Kühn. Guest Conductor Christan Köhler will conduct the SU Symphonic Wind Ensemble (USSWE) and Concert Band.
The Western Cape Flute Choir is proud to announce its official launch as part of the Band Extravaganza and will be a feature in USSWE’s performance. Rooted in social impact, this collaborative community ensemble will be hosted and run by the Winds Division of the Department of Music.
