| R110 – R130The Contrast Project is an innovative and daring group of professional musicians. Their aim is to be inclusive of other art forms and to push the boundaries of the contemporary classical music scene in South Africa. Their production “Die Soldaat se Storie” is a translated version of Igor Stravinsky’s Soldiers Tale, written for violin, clarinet, piano and narration, and includes a trio instrumental performance of compositions by Aram Khachaturian and Bela Bartok. The Contrast Project was established in 2016 and has performed as a trio at the Wakkerstroom Music Festival, Brooklyn Theatre, and Endler concerts series. Ane van Staden(violin) and Misha Melck(piano) are based in Pretoria while Visser Liebenberg (clarinet) is based in Stellenbosch, which allows them to collaborate with other artists in their different spheres under the Contrast Project brand. For this interdisciplinary artistic collaboration they are joined by the charming Niel Rademan, narrating Stravinsky’s Soldier Tale.
