The Endler Concert Series presents a concert in honour of Hungarian born flute doyenne, Éva Tamássy, who passed away in December 2018. Éva Tamássy lectured in Flute at the Department of Music, University of Stellenbosch, from 1960 until her retirement from a full-time position in 1998 and thereafter continued to give private lessons from her home in Stellenbosch. Besides her teaching she was a well-known and loved chamber musician.

The concert features numerous flute players whom she trained and mentored during her almost sixty years of teaching, including: Liesl Stoltz, Gabriele von Dürckheim, Bridget Rennie-Salonen, Carina Bruwer, Lisa Thom, Marietjie Pauw and Malane Hofmeyr. Flautists will be accompanied by pianist José Dias.

The programme will include works written for Tamássy by South African composers as well as chamber works for flute ensemble and some of her favourites for flute and piano.

The concert takes place on Sunday 28 April at 4:30pm in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.
