30-year-old Italian pianist Filippo Gorini, hailed as “a heir to Pollini” (Corriere della Sera) and praised for his “brave, original playing” (The Guardian), is in Stellenbosch for five weeks of performances and outreach as part of his philanthropic project, Sonata for 7 Cities. With a poetic programme that journeys from a newly commissioned work to Schubert’s final sonata, this recital in Endler Hall is the centrepiece of his South African visit, marking the second stop in a tour that began at the Vienna Konzerthaus and will conclude at the Milan Conservatory.
