Full Circle brings together SA-born violinist Johanna Roos and pianist Roelof Temmingh Jnr, both distinguished alumni of the Royal College of Music in London, for a captivating performance that will include Roelof Temmingh Snr’s Sonata for Violin and Piano. Johanna, who originally performed this work in 1993, had the unique privilege of receiving invaluable feedback from the late composer himself. The program delves further into a varied tapestry of soundscapes, through Schubert’s monumental Fantasy in C major and Poulenc’s heartfelt Sonata for Violin and Piano, dedicated to the Spanish poet Lorca, with its evocative guitar effects in the violin. Beethoven’s 6th Violin Sonata in A Major, a gem of innovative duo writing, full of even-handed brilliant interplay, rounds off this exceptional program by two outstanding visiting SA musicians.
