Bios:

Brent January is a fourth year classical guitarist at Stellenbosch University under the tutelage of Nina Fourie-Gouws.  In 2020 he was selected to take part in the Guitar Foundation of America Mentorship Program, where he had the opportunity to study with Grammy-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux. Over the past four years, he has played in various ensembles, including the Stellenbosch University Guitar Quartet, Stellenbosch University Big Band (under the direction of Felica Lesch). As an electric guitarist with the New Voice Sextet, he released the album In Tune with The Infinite in 2019. He has also recently performed with these ensembles at the prestigious SU Woordfees Arts Festival.

Justen Hosken, a third year BMus student at Stellenbosch University, is a full-time session musician who frequently records and performs with numerous local artists. Proficient on classical, acoustic and electric guitars, his all-round abilities allow him to perform in all manner of styles and genres. He is passionate about all stringed instruments and his musical interests range from death metal to Debussy. After completing his BMus studies he plans to obtain his Master’s degree in classical guitar performance abroad.

Marius Otto is a third year BMus student at the Stellenbosch University. He started playing guitar at 18 years of age and began formal music education and classical guitar in 2018 at the Certificate Program presented at Stellenbosch Konservatorium. In 2018 Marius was nominated for the ATKV Albert Engel Bursary competition and won the Karen Maritz prize for musical excellence. In 2020 he was a finalist in the Mabel quick competition.
