Hendrik Hofmeyr is one of South Africa’s most celebrated composers. Musicians including Jolene McCleland – mezzo-soprano, the Odeion String Quartet, Anmari van der Westhuizen – cello, Suzanne Martens – violin and Elna van der Merwe – piano perform in a concert of his chamber music in an all Hofmeyr affair in celebration of his 60th birthday. As a prolific composer for the voice it is fitting to include his Of Darkness and the Heart, for string quartet and soprano. Also included on the programme is Hofmeyr’s first String Quartet, first Violin Sonata, and his Cadenza for solo cello, performed by Anmari van der Westhuizen.

The performance take place on Sunday 5 March at 16h30 in the Fismer Hall.
