The Endler Concert Prestige Series presents Nikita Borisoglebsky (violin), Alexander Buzlov (cello) and Bryan Wallick (piano) on Saturday 9 June at 20h00 in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.

The programme is made up of three of the most celebrated piano trios of all time. Beethoven’s well-known Piano Trio in D major, Op. 70 no. 1, known as the ‘Ghost’ Trio because of its eerie-sounding second movement. Brahms‘ Piano Trio No.1 in B major Op. 8 was revised much later in his life so the early opus number may well give the false impression that this is an early work. It is in fact a mature and Romantically charged masterpiece with references to his love for Clara Schumann having been removed during the revision. Mendelssohn’s first Piano Trio in D Minor Op. 49 is a typical example of his joie de vivre yet profound style and has as a result become one of his most popular chamber works.

Nikita Borisoglebsky’s has been awarded top prizes in many prestigious violin competitions including the International Jean Sibelius, Fritz Kreisler, Monte Carlo, Tchaikovsky, and the Queen Elizabeth Violin competitions. Another Tchaikovsky prize winner, Alexander Buzlov, needs no introduction to Stellenbosch audiences as he has so often dazzled with his performances over the last few years at the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival. American born pianist Bryan Wallick, lauded by critics as “virtuoso, brilliant and intense” completes this magnificent trio for an unforgettable evening of fine music.

Tickets for R160 (regular) and R120 (students and pensioners) are available now through Computicket and at the door.
