The Endler Concert Series brings you pianist José Dias to perform a solo recital of Ballades on Saturday, 4 November at 20:00 in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.

This concert presents an opportunity to hear some of the most exquisite music ever written for the piano with Ballades by Brahms, Grieg, Faure and South African composer, Hendrik Hofmeyr. These ballades are elaborate, single movement works, full of dramatic contrasts, lyrical elements and intense poetry.

José Dias obtained his BMus Honours cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch, specializing in solo piano performance. After further studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Zürich (Switzerland), José returned to South Africa to take up a position as repetiteur at Cape Town Opera, where he remained until 2011. Dias is currently working towards a PhD (Music) in Solo Performance at the University of Cape Town under the supervision of Prof. François du Toit and Prof. Hendrik Hofmeyr, and is a part-time lecturer at the UCT College of Music.
