The Endler Concert Series in collaboration with KOMPOS celebrates the fresh new orchestral works of Stellenbosch’s young music composers. As its name suggests (Compost), KOMPOS seeks to establish a nurturing and stimulating environment for the composition students of the Stellenbosch University Music Department. The project instigated in 2010 by Antoni Schonken, Arthur Feder and Tricia Theunissen under the guidance and support of Prof Hans Roosenschoon, strives to create a platform of opportunities to composers, conductors, and performers alike.

The theme of Et Cetera, in dedication to Prof Hans Roosenschoon, has been the source of inspiration behind this concert’s eclectic tapestry of musical creations. By means of this concert, the composition students and Kompos committee wish to honor Prof Hans Roosenschoon for his remarkable work in building up the Stellenbosch University Composition department.

The first half of the concert will feature works by Katya Zoio, Marco Nachenius, Kristi Boonzaaier, Kelsey Muller, Kirsten Adams, Jesse Dreyer and Carlie Schoonees for chamber orchestra conducted by Stellenbosch University Music Department conducting students of Prof Corvin Matei.

Student composers Marco Nachenius, Natali Frenz and Leonore Bredekamp have been collaborating with the Stellenbosch University Wind Band, which for the premiere of these works, as well as that of a collaborative work by founding members Antoni Schonken and Arthur Feder, will be conducted by Reghardt Kühn in the second half.

We look forward to this exciting musical event!
