The Virtuoso Amateurs! is a piano festival that brings together every year the best amateur pianists and lovers of the piano. It offers these pianists the opportunity to perform in concert and participate in masterclasses with some of the most recognized professional musicians.

The festival has a strong international dimension with a diversity of invited participants from the countries where it is organized. Each year, a traveling edition sets up in a new country Previous countries include Brazil, China, Hungary, Russia, Argentina, Morocco, Germany, and in 2018, South Africa.

In 2018, the festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. From 10 – 18 November, pianists will participate in masterclasses given by François du Toit, Albie Van Schalkwyk, Jan Hugo, Jay Gottlieb and Philip Fowke.

The Endler Concert Series in partnership with The Virtuoso Amateurs! Festival presents a concert which forms part of the Festival on Sunday 11 November at 4:30pm in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.

The programme includes solo and two piano works by Bach, Mozart, Mussorgsky and Rachmaninov, performed by American pianist Dale Backus and German pianists Matthias Fischer and Johannes Gaechter.
