BIO

Lourens Fick is a pianist hailing from South Africa. He received his MMus degree in Piano Performance at the University of Stellenbosch, completing his performance education under the tutelage of Bennie van Eeden. Throughout his studies he has received masterclasses from several internationally acclaimed pianists, such as Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Aviram Reichert, Jura Margulis and Leslie Howard.

In addition to several television performances, he’s also performed as soloist with several South African orchestras, once described in the South African newspaper, Die Burger, as ‘impressive playing’. He is a frequent participant in national competitions and placed high in several during his studies including the Unisa South African Music Scholarship, Yamaha Key Performers of Note, Wakkerstroom Music Burasry, SAMRO Overseas Scholarships, Olive Lieberz and Unisa National Piano competitions.

Lourens intends to pursue a second Master’s degree at Berklee College of Music – Valencia Campus, Spain, starting September. Through a competitive selection process and interview, he has been selected to attend the Masters in Contemporary Performance with Production Concentration course presented there on a partial scholarship from the college.
