Beauty in variation, variation in beauty

Nina Schumann, professor and head of the Piano Division at Stellenbosch University Music Department and Artistic Director of the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, needs no introduction to local audiences. She has titled this solo recital as “Beauty in variation, variation in beauty” and has compiled a programme of works by Bach/Busoni, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff and Medtner. In this recital, the juxtaposition of works by these four composers serves to underscore not only the traditional variation form and its ‘recomposition’ but also the conversation that can be had between composers based on shared aesthetics. The concert promises to be an emotional tour de force of extraordinary beauty.

Please keep in mind that for all live events current restrictions allow for 150 audience members in the Endler Hall and all safety protocols outlined by the University will be strictly followed.

Tickets for R140 (regular) and R100 (pensioners, students, and scholars) are available now through Computicket and at the door one hour before the show. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
