To “palissander” is an Afrikaans regional verb describing the use of simple language, expressing a sense of sadness. In the programme with this title you will have the opportunity to listen to Arnold van Wyk’s seldom performed choral cycle Die Ou Paradys (based on texts by Louis Leipoldt), as well as several settings of texts by folk poet Boerneef and other Afrikaans poets, and South African composers such as Hendrik Hofmeyr, Pieter de Villiers and Hubert du Plessis, as performed by the Cape Town Camerata, under the guidance of Leon Starker.

This unique performance takes place on Sunday 12 March at 20h00.
