The Endler Concert Series is proud to present young up and coming South African artists Ane van Staden (violin), Visser Liebenberg (clarinet), and Misha Melck (piano) on Sunday 18 June at 16h30 in the Endler Hall.

Together they form the “Contrast Project” and will perform a concert of chamber music by composers Khachaturian, Milhaud, Bartok, and Stravinsky. These works for clarinet, violin and piano, composed in the 1930s for this unique combination of instrumental timbres are flavoured with Hungarian and Romanian folk dance themes, hints of jazz and differing colours of sound. Expect rhythmic playfulness, polytonality, improvisational qualities, complex layers and contrasting moods. This program guarantees to cater for wide-ranging stylistic interests.

Visser Liebenberg is a versatile clarinet player and earned his MMus, in clarinet performance, at Stellenbosch University. As a free-lance clarinetist, he actively performs as a soloist, chamber musician and an ad-hoc clarinet player for Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic and Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ané van Staden (neé du Toit) is a violinist with a passion for chamber music and teaching. She completed her MMus (cum laude) in 2015 at the University of Pretoria. During her years of study, she was awarded numerous prizes and scholarships, which enabled her to further her musical education in the UK.

Misha Melck started playing piano at the age of seven and has since been a prize winner in various national and international competitions, and has performed with orchestras in SA and abroad. In 2012 Misha won the UNISA Licentiate Overseas Scholarship Competition which has allowed her to travel to London, Austria, Germany and Switzerland for music festivals and master classes with acclaimed teachers over a period of three years.
