| R100 – R140The 2017 SAKOV National Organ Workshops and Bursary Competition are held this year in Stellenbosch – the 2-day event kicks-off with a solo recital by internationally acclaimed organist Rudolph the Vos at the Endler Hall on Friday 1 September, at 8pm.
De Vos, originally from South Africa, has appeared in concerts throughout South Africa, Europe and the United States. He grew up in the house of a Dutch Reformed Church pastor, and his love for organ and choral music developed at an early age. At age eleven he gained his first position as church organist in Johannesburg. Before his departure from South Africa, he won the keyboard division of most competitions he was eligible to enter, including one of South Africa’s most prestigious awards, the Stephanus Zondagh Scholarship for Overseas Study.
Dr. de Vos holds undergraduate and graduate degrees and diplomas from the University of South Africa, University of Pretoria, University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music.
His programme will include works by performs works by Ropartz, Laurin, Bach, Walther, Bovet, Mendelssohn, Dandrieu, Guilmant, Widor and Vierne.
