Three principal players of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Gabriele von Dürckheim (flute & piccolo), Petrus Coetzee (viola) and Roxane Steffen (double bass) are coming together to bring you the unexpected, but marvellous music of Erwin Schulhoff playing his Concertino for Flute, Viola and Bass.

Erwin Schulhoff (1894–1942) was a Czech musician born in Prague to a German-Jewish family, and whose life came to a premature end in 1942 at the Wülzburg concentration camp, near Weißenburg, Bavaria. Schulhoff wrote the Concertino in 1925.

Gabriele, Petrus and Roxane will open the concert with a lovely trio by Mysliveček and show their skills in duos by Geminiani, Glière and Devienne before finishing with the Schulhoff concertino.

Please keep in mind that for all live events current restrictions allow for 100 audience members in the Endler Hall and all safety protocols outlined by the University will be strictly followed. The safety of our students, staff and patrons is our first priority.

The concert will take place on Friday 21 May at 7pm. Tickets for R120 (regular) and R80 (pensioners and students) are available now through Computicket and at the door one hour before the show. Credit card facilities and SnapScan payments will be possible. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
