Stellenbosch University Jazz Band Fundraising Concert
19 November 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
| R40 – R60The Endler Concert series is proud to present the vibrant and award-winning Stellenbosch University Jazz Band in a fundraising concert on Saturday 19 November at 5pm in the Endler Hall.
The Stellenbosch University Jazz Band is the flagship of the Certificate Programmes in Music Literacy at Stellenbosch University which was created to equip members of the broader community with skills to read music and play an instrument at a level enabling them to embark on a BMus or Diploma programme at tertiary level. Over the years the band has gained a reputation for vibrant and energetic concerts, performing with artists such as Sibongile Khumalo, Judith Sephuma, Jannie Moolman, Gloria Bosman, Louis Loock, PJ Powers, Corlea Botha, Amanda Strydom, Timothy Moloi, Tete Mbambisa and Tarryn Lamb under the leadership of Felicia Lesch.
The SU Jazz Band is conducted by Felicia Lesch and joined by guest artists, including jazz pianist Ramon Alexander, Annemie Nel on drums and Shaun Johannes on bass. The programme pays tribute to South African compositions and features student vocal soloists, Nico Miso and Jodie Cedras, who will join the band in some choice items.
Learners from one of the Certificate Programme community partners, the Steenberg High School Band will also share the stage. The Konserv Jazz Kollektiv will perform a curtain raiser in the foyer before the concert.
Tickets for R60 (regular) and R40 (pensioners, students, and scholars) are available now through Webtickets and at the door one hour before the show. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
