The University of Stellenbosch Symphonic Wind Ensemble (USSWE) is proud to present a concert as part of the Endler Concert Series on Friday 15 September 2017 at 20h00. The marching and community band idiom, so prevalent in the Western Cape, and the South African legacy of Field Bands has created, perhaps more than any other musical medium, the opportunity to involve a diverse spectrum of amateur and professional musicians in an all‐inclusive musical initiative.

The evening will commence with Chesford Potrait by James Swearingen, an upbeat overture for band. Other works to be performed include Concerto for Two Trumpets, Vivaldi, featuring Chico Munoz and Lara Havenga on piccolo trumpet and D trumpet respectively, Rondo (3rd movement) from Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Band, Binge, performed by Josie McClure and the popular Rhapsody in Blue, Gershwin, with Carmen van Renssen on piano. The performance will conclude with  Sinatra in Concert, a medley of well known songs popularised by the late Frank Sinatra including New York, New York, It Was A Very Good Year, The Lady Is A Tramp and My Way. The University of Stellenbosch Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be conducted by Reghardt Kühn, Pamela Kıerman and Riaan van Wyk.

The University of Stellenbosch Symphonic WInd Ensemble will share the evening with the SU Jazz Band, conducted by Felicia Lesch.

Tickets for R50 (regular) and R30 (students and pensioners) are available now through Computicket and at the door. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
