The Libertas Choir presents opera highlights from twelve operas by eight different composers. The performance bids farewell to their much loved conductor Johan de Villiers, who has been at the helm for more than 20 years. The Libertas Choir will be joined by a full symphony orchestra and singers Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi, Minette du Toit-Pearce, Sipho Fubesi, Conroy Scott and Thato Machona. Among the highlights are excerpts from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Bizet’s Carmen and The Pearl Fishers and Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni. After the famous sextet from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, the concert is concluded by Verdi’s Va, pensiero from Nabucco, and the powerful Triumphal March from Aida.
