Chante van der Westhuizen is a 21-year-old Soprano who graduated with a Diploma in Practical Music in 2019 and is currently studying her Advanced Diploma in Vocal Performance at the University of Stellenbosch. She started singing from the age of 5 in various choirs and participated in Eisteddfods and other music competitions in the Western Cape, receiving numerous Cum Laude awards. During her school career, Chante participated in the George Young Musicians competition and won best vocalist in 2015 and 1st winner overall in 2016. Chante has also completed her D.A.S.A Intermediate Foundation Ballet Training and Grade 8 in Speech and Drama through Trinity London. Since starting her studies under the tutelage of Minette Du Toit – Pearce at Stellenbosch University, Chante has been involved in various student and local opera company productions as a chorus member and dancer. She has sung in productions of Die Fledermaus and The Merry Widow with AGL Opera Company and has sung as a chorus member in the universities 100^th Anniversary concert of Beethoven’s 9^th Symphony. In 2019, Chante was one of nine soloists chosen from the Stellenbosch Music Department to perform in the biannual Stellenbosch Youth Concerto Festival with the University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra.  In 2020 Chante was the official understudy for the role of Annina in the Woordfees production of La Traviata and also sang as a chorus member. Chante has also participated in various masterclasses presented by the Music Department of Stellenbosch. Recently, Chante was a finalist in the Voices of South Africa International Competition, under 23 years category. Chante has received many awards and bursaries during her studies, including the Smallie Scholarship (2018), the Stellenbosch University Merit Award for academic excellence (2019) and the Hilda Hendricks Vocal Bursary (2019 and 2020).

Throy Petersen completed his BMus Honours (Piano Performance – accompaniment) degree (cum laude) in 2018, under the tutelage of Prof Nina Schumann at Stellenbosch University. During his studies he was awarded several bursaries and merit award, namely the Laetitia Morkel Scholarship, the HA Molteno scholarship, Anton Hartman scholarship, SAMRO scholarships and funding from the National Research Foundation. In 2015 he performed as a soloist with University of Stellenbosch’s Symphony Orchestra and Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in their respective Youth Concerto Festivals. Throy has volunteered at various community-based initiatives, namely the SU Certificate Programme, Hugo Lambrecht’s Adopt a Musio, Masidhlale Music Project, Mowbray Music Academy, as well as the Ronnie Samaai Music Project, where he taught piano, theory, cello, aural training and served as an accompanist. He received a certificate upon completion of his 100 hours of voluntary community service for SU. Throy has accepted a premier talent scholarship and graduate assistantship pursuing a Master of Music degree in Ensemble Arts at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in the USA, under the tutelage of Eileen Cornett.
