She completed her BMus studies cum laude in 2018, majoring in voice and music education (with a half-major in advanced German). In 2019 she shifted her focus to violin performance under Suzanne Martens, graduating cum laude with a BMus Honours. She has received multiple bursaries and scholarships, including 3 academic merit awards, an ABRSM Diploma in Violin Performance, (passed with distinction in 2018), the 2018 Conservatoire Scholarship (awarded to a final year-student for outstanding achievement in any facet of music studies), the departmental nomination for the 2018 Chancellor’s medal, a 2019 Rector’s Award for Academic Excellence and the 2020 Elize de Villiers violin prize. Apart from her violin and voice studies, Marlise enjoys teaching and maintains an active studio for violin and voice students of all levels. In 2019 she travelled to Maputo for a month to teach within the string division of the Xiquitsi project, teaching violin and viola and coaching their youth string orchestra.
