Three Choirs
21 July 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
| R100 – R140To open Season 2 of the Endler Concert Series, in the spirit of the World Choir Games, we bring you three choirs: Neuer Kammerchor (Berlin), Simon Estes Choir (Khayelitsha), and Amici De Lumine youth choir (Cape Town), on Saturday 21 July at 20h00 in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch.
In 2018, for the first time ever, the 10th edition of the World Choir Games (an INTERKULTUR event) will happen on the African continent in Tshwane. The World Choir Games is where amateur choirs of the world are invited for 11 days to meet singers from all over the world in competitions, at Friendship Concerts and major singing projects. Here they experience the very special spirit and character of South African choral music, share their common passion for singing and get inspired by each other. As part of their South African tour to the World Choir Games, the Neuer Kammerchor (Berlin) will be touring to Stellenbosch to continue their choral exchange. This choir is made up of music students from the University of the Arts Berlin, trained singers and other members with many years of choral experience.
The Neuer Kammerchor (Berlin) will feature in the first half of the concert singing works by Monteverdi, Reger, Whitacre and Mäntyjärvi’s Four Shakespeare songs amongst others. After interval they will be joined by two local choirs – Simon Estes Choir (Khayelitsha), and Amici De Lumine youth choir (Cape Town), and for a few combined items at the end of the concert.
Join us for this special concert and share in our rich choral tradition.
Tickets for R140 (full price) and R100 (students & pensioners) are available from Computicket and at the door. For more information contact Fiona Grayer at concerts@sun.ac.za or 021 808 2358.
